Nancy Opp

Nancy Opp grew up in Metropolitan New York and was exposed to the Arts from an early age.

She has a BS in Fashion Design from the University of Cincinnati. She and Greg Opp married a year after graduation. Nancy worked in fashion retailing and secretarial positions for several years. She became a fulltime Mom with the birth of their first child Dan. Tom and David followed within the next 6 years.

Her desire to get back to art began when she studied pastel drawing a few years later. Nancy earned a Basic Art Certificate from the Danforth Museum School in Framingham. Also, she continued her studies at the Worcester Art Museum and in small groups. Nancy decided to return to college for serious classes in studio and art history. She was accepted into the art department at Framingham State College and successfully completed 9 courses. Also, she took a graduate course in the Arts of India at Clark University, in Worcester.

Her teaching experience began in her home with a few students. She moved onto several after school programs in Hudson and Sudbury. She has also taught children at the Worcester Art Museum and the Danforth Museum. Nancy was employed by the Arts Alliance in Hudson and held several positions with this organization including teacher for Drama Workshop, arts coordinator and teacher for Arts Afterschool programs and visual art director.

Nancy has been exhibiting her art work in juried and non-juried exhibits. Her focus was in watercolor which evolved into mixed media/collage. She discovered a new world of creative expression in quilting a few years ago. She pursued her interest while working at the Assabet Valley Chamber of Commerce and raising her family. Nancy’s quilts have appeared in numerous art exhibits in the area.

Eclectica Designs is the name of Nancy’s custom sewing business. She uses fabric as her art medium combining art with fashion sewing and quilting experience. She has developed embellished sweatshirt jackets and scarves of kimono silk and velvet. Nancy creates clothing, accessories and art quilts for retail and individuals. She will work with the customer to help develop their unique vision.
